A Relativist’s Approach to Religion

The Atheists Creed: We believe in Marx, Freud, and Darwin.
We believe that everything is OK as long as you don't hurt anyone - to the best of your definition of hurt - and to the best of your definition of knowledge.
We believe in sex before, during, and after marriage.
We believe in the therapy of sin.
We believe that adultery is fun, and that taboos are taboo.
We believe that everything is getting better, despite evidence to the contrary. The evidence must be investigated so that you can prove anything with evidence.
We believe there is something in UFOs, horoscopes, and bent spoons.
Jesus was a good man, just like Buddha, Muhammad, and ourselves. Jesus was a good moral teacher, but we believe that some of his good morals were bad.
We believe that all basic religions are the same, at least the ones that we read were - all believing in love and goodness. They only differ on matters of creation, sin, heaven, hell, god, and salvation.
We believe that after death, comes the nothing. Because we asked the dead and all they said was nothing. If we are dead and find that the dead have lied, then it is compulsory heaven for all except perhaps Hitler, Stalin, and Genghis Khan.
We believe what is selected is average, what's average is normal, what's normal is good.
We believe in total disarmament, because we believe there are direct links between warfare and bloodshed. Americans should beat their guns into tractors and the terrorists will be sure to follow.
We believe that man is essentially good, it is only his behavior that lets him down. This is the fault of society, society is the fault of conditions, and conditions the fault of society.
We believe that each man must find the truth that is right for him, and reality will adapt accordingly. The universe will readjust, and history will alter.
We believe that there is no absolute truth, except the truth that there is no absolute truth.
We believe in the rejection of creeds and the flowering of individual thought.

If chance be the father of all flesh, than disaster is his rainbow in the sky; and when you hear, 'state of emergency', 'sniper kills innocents', ' young girl raped', 'troops on rampage', 'bomb blows up school', it is but the sound of man, worshiping his created maker.

If we don't get this right, we slide into the abyss of total relativism. Where 'all truth is relative', and the statement 'all truth is relative' would be absolutely true. If it is absolutely true, then not all things are relative and the statement that 'all truth is relative' is false. The statement, 'there are no absolute truths' is an absolute statement which is supposed to be true. Therefore, it is an absolute truth and 'there are no absolute truths' is false. If there are no absolute truths, then you cannot believe anything absolutely at all, including that there are no absolute truths. Therefore, nothing could be really truth for you - including your thought of relativism. In total relativism, the most powerful, and the greediest, and the most destructive are those that triumph over the rest.

The moral law says this: your life is of intrinsic value and I cannot violate it. I cannot violate your life, I cannot violate your sexuality, I cannot violate your home, I cannot violate your property, I cannot violate your time, it is all sacred. If you take the 10 commandments and put one word at the top of it, it would have to be the word 'sacred'. Life is sacred, sexuality is sacred, time is sacred, property is sacred, I have no right to violate any of it. I must respect it.

For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. - John 3:17
